I have a very close friend who is South African and wishing to converse in her native tongue, I thought I’d take the plunge and enroll in this course, AfrikaansPod101. It’s still early stages, but the course construction, tools, utilities, and support are absolutely incredible. I’ve studied other languages before, but have never come across anything as good as this. Of particular value to me is the very comprehensive set of audio examples, using different people, and being able to slow the replay down is invaluable for gaining the ‘ear’ for the spoken words and understanding how different consonants and vowels are pronounced.
